Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data RootPlans collects, how we use it, and your rights. We keep it simple.
1. What We Collect
- Account info: Your name and email address when you create an account.
- Garden plans: The plans you generate, including your ZIP code, zone, theme, and plant preferences.
- Usage data: How you use the app (features tapped, plans generated) to help us improve the experience.
- Subscription info: Your plan status (free or Pro), managed through RevenueCat and Apple. We do not store payment card details.
We do not collect location beyond what you enter (ZIP code). We do not sell your personal data.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To generate and save your personalized garden plans
- To manage your account and subscription
- To improve RootPlans AI recommendations over time
- To send you important account communications (no marketing spam)
3. Third-Party Services
We use a small number of trusted services to run RootPlans:
- RevenueCat — manages in-app subscriptions and purchase verification. See their Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store — handles payment processing for iOS subscriptions. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Vercel — hosts the RootPlans web app and API. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic Claude AI — powers the AI garden planning suggestions. Prompts and responses are processed by Anthropic's API. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely in an encrypted database. We use HTTPS for all data in transit. We retain your account data for as long as your account is active.
We do not share your personal data with advertisers or data brokers.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your garden plans
- Correct any inaccurate information

6. Children
RootPlans is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
